It was nice working with cassette culturialist Robin James on an interview. We also discussed using his sounds as an example for how my processes work. With this release, we have three types of file(s). The outtakes are actual, final pieces-- results of my processes. The extracts are sounds taken directly from samples sent to me by Robin James. The newsamples are sounds derived from those. In the original effort, there were 11 extractions and about 600 derivations. I am not featuring all of them here, just a few to convey the process. Once the dervations are made, they are selected by Python code in groups of 24 and set to play in a live looping console. I then record from this console in real time, and curate the results. The "Train Tracks Dub" pieces are supplemental, and involved recordings taken in trains by Robin James, along with some other sounds.
